Regensburger Viertel in Nuremberg

New residential areas in the Franconian metropolis

SUSTAINABLE FACADE GREENING IN THE “REGENSBURGER VIERTEL”

In the new residential district “Regensburger Viertel” in the Franconian city, environmental considerations play a central role. Even during the planning phase, great importance was placed on preserving the existing tree population. The zoning plan also mandates green roofs, as well as ground-mounted facade greening. This provides sound insulation, improves the microclimate, and contributes to ecological enhancement, while greening both steel and solid walls.
Due to the required growth height and the specific plant load class, intermediate brackets were necessary, the design of which was determined based on system statics. The GREENCABLE Heavy bracket system from Carl Stahl ARC was used, which is specifically designed for higher loads and greater greening heights. An adapter plate was also developed to ensure secure anchoring at the masonry joints, reliably transferring the resulting loads into the building. An additional advantage was the system’s stock availability, which allowed the tight construction schedule to be met.
In combination with GREENCABLE Light, a shrub-like vegetation can be created in the lower area. The arrangement of the cables creates a tree-like appearance in the courtyard while also ensuring biodiversity and cooling effects – right in the middle of the city.
