SAFETY AND FACADE GREENERY
Today, teaching children a healthy, natural approach to nature can also be the task of schools. In the Netherlands, there is an educational institute that has taken on a green pioneering role in this respect thanks to the X-TEND stainless steel mesh. The Primary School de Diamant in Apeldoorn not only wants to teach its pupils the subject matter, but also to show them how urban life in close symbiosis with flora and fauna is possible.
AN EXEMPLARY SCHOOL
The de Diamant primary school sees itself and its concept as a jewel with many different facets. With four educational concepts at three locations, it offers an education that meets the developmental needs of each child. Not only is the curriculum dry, but there is also a lot of hands-on experience. For example, the pupils write about their everyday school life in the Diamant newspaper in articles they have written themselves. The photos are also taken by the students themselves
GREEN TENDRILS ON STAINLESS STEEL CABLES
A school concept that is so unusual and at the same time extraordinary may calmly adorn itself with a transparent, safe and special eye-catcher. The X-TEND stainless steel cable net not only ensures safety where it is fixed and tensioned, but as a climbing aid it makes it easier for plants to climb up the building. At the same time, the net also does a great deal for the maintenance of the building. Instead of digging into the building fabric, the plants simply wrap themselves up on the robust steel cables with a diameter of three millimeters. The resulting greenery creates a great contrast to the simple polycaronate panels of the facade.
